A student was stopped from her failing to ride her bicycle within the lanes of the road. Officers were repeatedly asking why she was stopped and whether she is required to provide identification to the officer. According to the ACLU of Oregon, “it is not illegal in Oregon to refuse to identify yourself, but police may detain you until they establish your identity.” The 13-year-old was fighting to give her information to the police. The officers did not like the way she was not complying so they threatened to put her under arrest. As the officers say they were being gentle, but the young 13-year-old makes it seem as if they are abusing her. Later, she was arrested for interfering with an officer and resisting arrest.
