France ID Program

France is wanting to be the first European country to give its citizens a safe and secure digital identity, named Alicem, even if people don’t want it. They are rushing to create the citizens’ digital identities to give their citizens secure access to their taxes and banks, social security, and utility bills. Yet people are skeptical because even though authorities have said that the security of Alicem is at the highest state level there has been an incident when a hacker that goes by Elliot Alderson was able to access one of the governments highly secure apps in just over an hour. People are also worried that they will use the ID system to keep tabs on them, but France has said that they won’t do that to their citizens, unlike China and Singapore.
