Petrify

The black dragons hissed from

Atop the demon woman’s crown,

Heralding Death’s arrival.

Their little jet bodies

Seethed and roiled with the same hate

They shared with their mother.

The eyes of their mother

Glowed a sickly yellow

As the serpents bared their teeth.

The woman caught the intruder’s gaze and

He joined the countless others.

The dragons closed their eyes and

fell to her shoulders.

Her body slid along the floor,

Grinding sand beneath her as

She moved to examine her handiwork.

After all,

She is the best sculptor there is.
