Daylight Savings

Daylight savings began this year on March tenth, at 2 am. With its end on November third at the same time, America is left struggling with the time change. Working adults who get up at four for work and don’t come home till six are stuck spending their entire day in darkness. Students who go to practice after school are shrouded in the same night as they attempt to improve their skills. This time change was first introduced when America created it during World War I, and then re-instituted during World War II, as part of the war effort to save fuel. Countries participate in Daylight savings- some countries simply call it “Summer Time”- to transfer an hour of light at the end of the day to the beginning. Daylight savings is essentially a government scheme that saves them money under the guise of being for farmers who get more sunlight so they can work longer. In my opinion, I have no idea why farmers would want to work in the hot sun more than they have to anyhow, so that doesn’t really add up quite right. Fun things to know about how the world runs, and why things occur. Stay aware Miners!
