In the State of California, schools have at least 3 years to change what time of the day classes are able to start. Middle schools will not be able to begin school until 8 am and high schools will not be able to start until 8:30 am. The State is deciding to do this because of the large number of students who complain that they don’t get enough sleep. Not enough sleep interferes heavily with students’ ability to learn and do well in school and California believes this is the solution. Is it?
