The wet season has officially begun! With winter starting in the valley, lots of rain is expected. This means increased accidents will be likely. It is important to be extra safe on the roads to keep yourself and others safe. Some ways you can do this is by driving with headlights on and not accelerating quickly, and not driving too fast. When there is water on the road and tired move too fast, hydroplaning and loss of vehicle control happens. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “The most weather-related crashes happen on wet pavement (73 percent) and when it rains (46 percent).” On average, about 350,000 people are injured and 4,500 are killed in rainy accidents each year. Be smart, drive safe.
