The movement that began to spread and go viral in 2017 now continues to provide encouragement for survivors of sexual violence. Women who had ever been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote ‘Me too’ as a status on their social media to show other women they were not alone. Soon celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd, Jennifer Lawrence, and Uma Thurman, among others, joined the movement to stand up against Harvey Weinstein and other high profile men in Hollywood who abused their power to take advantage of women. #Metoo founder, Tarana Burke, said that #MeToo declares sexual violence sufferers are not alone and should not be ashamed. The Me Too Movement website continues to be a great resource for survivors and advocates to find encouragement and healing tool kits that provide healing and empathy. Sexual violence is something that needs to change and as a society, we need to take steps to take these allegations seriously and create a better world where this happens less.
