The 62nd GRAMMY’s were held on January 26, 2019. GRAMMY’s are given out to extraordinary artists that break records and get to the top. In this ceremony, various artists perform live. This is a great opportunity for new artists to put themselves out there and become recognized for all of their hard work.
The winner of the Record of the Year went to Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy”. Competing for the award were Post Malone’s “Sunflower”, Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts”, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”, Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” etc.
Billie Eilish wins again for Album of the Year with her “ When we fall Asleep, Where do we go?”. She was against Ariana Grande’s “thank u, next”, Lizzo’s “Cuz I Love You (Deluxe)”, Lil Nas X’s “7” and other artists.
Once again Billie Eilish wins with “Bad Guy” for Best Song of the Year. Her competition was Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift, Lizzo and others.
The Best New Artist category nominees were Lizzo, Lil Nas X, Rosalia, Maggie Rogers, Black Pumas, Billie Eilish, Yola, and Tank and the Bangas. Billie Eilish gets her 4rth GRAMMY from this category.
The Best Rap Album goes to Tyler, the Creator with “Igor”. In an interview with reporters, he was dissatisfied with his category because he does not consider “Igor” a rap album. He was against Dreamville’s “Revenge of The Dreamers III”, Meek Mill’s “Championships”, 21 Savage’s “I am > I was”, and YBN Cordae’s “The Lost Boy”
Lizzo wins her first out of three GRAMMY for the Best Pop Solo Performance with the ground-breaking “Truth Hurts”. She was against Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Beyonce, and Taylor Swift.
There are more categories to talk about but, I recommend watching the GRAMMY’s to get the full experience of the performances and the inspirational speeches said by the winners.
