According to local news reports recently released from Fredrick, Maryland, a sighting of a Nazi flag in the window of a history building at the Governor Thomas High School, was reported over the weekend of February 10th. The sighting was said to have been reported by local students and parents attending a basketball tournament over the weekend at the high school gym. The Frederick County Public School Committee immediately took down the flag that was “clearly visible” after it being reported and assured students, faculty, staff, and families that they would be “tak[ing] appropriate steps [in] insuring that an incident such as this [be not] repeated”. A graduate of the Governor Thomas High School posted a picture of the obscene flag hanging in the window of the classroom close to the entrance of the school making the assumption that the action was done by an educator of the school. As proclaimed from the Frederick County Public School Committee, immediate steps will be made in order to target the suspect and keep incidents like this from happening again. Apologies were made by the school to all students and families, sharing that the incident seen on the night of a majorly important basketball tournament, did not represent the morals and messages that the Governor Thomas High School lives by.
