The 92nd Academy Awards were hosted on Sunday, February 9th, that included many memorable highlights. This included Eminem bringing back his iconic “Lose Yourself” performance nearly 20 years later that earned some quite memorable reactions in the audience. However, one of the most talked-about moments of the night was the Oscars “In Memoriam” section. More honorably, who wasn’t in it. A few names on the list included the late Kobe Bryant, who tragically lost his life alongside his daughter Gigi on the 26th of January, Peter Mayhew, Kirk Douglas, Peter Fonda and more. Many, however, noticed 2 very honorable and influential names were not included on the list; Luke Perry and Disney Channel actor Cameron Boyce. Many were outraged at this decision which caught the Oscars’ attention. Here is the official statement released by them, “The Academy receives hundreds of requests to include loved ones and industry colleagues in the Oscars In Memoriam segment. An executive committee representing every branch considers the list and makes selections for the telecast based on limited available time,” the Academy said in a statement. “All the submissions are included on Oscar.com and will remain on the site throughout the year. Luke Perry and Cameron Boyce are remembered in the Oscar.com gallery.”
