E.L.D.S Part 14 (Roots)

Three of the five Arc soldiers rushed towards me while the other two disbanded deeper into the district. With the last raid, I was a part of, I figured that the two Arc soldiers went to the district eleven generators. The three Arc soldiers surrounded me while my focus was on the other two heading to the generator. As soon as the Arc soldiers lunged at me, Orion arrived behind one of them grabbing their ankle. He swung the Arc soldier and made him hit the enemy near him and finished of by throwing him into the third Arc soldier that was there.

“I can handle these guys cap. You go and worry about the other two”, Orion said watching the three Arc soldiers getting up from the floor. I headed my way to the other two Arc soldiers who were planning on destroying the generator.

I quickly caught up to them and shoved them into the nearest building. I instantly knew that the two I was going up against were the strongest Arc soldiers in district eleven which means one of them is the captain. Coming out from the buildings they instantly headed towards me. I quickly blocked the oncoming attacks and forced them backward. I noticed that they were not able to use their abilities. The Arc soldiers were just using hand to hand combat. I tried talking to them, but nothing was said. All I was able to hear was heavy breathing. Not like exhausted heavy breathing more like panic breathing. Of course, I didn’t know why, but I was planning on finding out. With both of them not able to use their abilities taking them down would be easy. I decided to toy with them for a bit to see what is the cause of them fighting against their own side. I activated God’s Eye and just continuously countered every move they tried to do. Finally, I noticed one of the black pea objects, that were falling from the sky, on one of their necks. As I continued to fight them and look at the black pea object on his neck, I see roots appearing out of it, growing onto the outside of his body. The longer it stayed on him, the more it grew. I look around my suit to see if any were on me. None to be seen. As my attention was away from the two soldiers, I noticed one of them was different from before. A big power boost appeared from the Arc soldiers when the roots had reached his brain. I concluded that the roots take full control in this phase. The Arc soldier, with the roots that had reached his brain, started cloning right in front of me. He was able to use his ability now. I knew that that was gonna be a major problem if both of them were going to be able to use their ability. I had to find a way to disconnect the roots from the other Arc soldier before it reached their head while keeping my focus on the Arc soldier and his clones. I kept trying to grab the root on his neck to pull it out but before I got there I was forced back by the clones. I had to deactivate my ability cause it was activated for the limited time that wouldn’t cause any problems to my eyesight. I put myself in a pretty tough situation and it was too late to stop the roots from reaching the other Arc soldier’s head. Right when the roots reached his brain I knew this battle was gonna end messily. The Rebel appeared behind him and snapped his neck and then kicked him into a nearby building without hesitation.

“What the hell is going on McArthur,” the Rebel shouted at me.

“I’ll fill you in after we take down this last one,” I responded to him getting into my battle stance.
