Winter Guard Show #3

This past weekend, on February 29th, the day of leap year, El Diamante’s Winter Guard performed at Mission Oak High School in Tulare. This was our third show of the season, and for the first time since El Diamante opened, we had our entire winter show finished by the third competition. After showing up at 9:30 am and assisting La Joya Middle School in prepping for their show, we performed at roughly 11:30 am. This was also our first show in full uniform: each and every one of us had gone shopping during the two weeks prior and bought cream outfits of our choice to perform in. At 2:20 pm, once every other Winter Guard had performed, we sat patiently and waited for awards. We were at the edge of our seats waiting to hear our names called. Finally, the suspense was over, and our score was announced, “In 2nd place, with a score of 67.29, El Diamante High School”. Our section in the bleachers roared. After an exhausting few weeks, we’d almost reached the top. Madera South High School had beaten us with a score of 69.07, and the school below us had a 67.11. We have another show this Saturday, March 7, and then championships on March 28. We plan on taking first place at champs in the upcoming week, so please, wish us luck, Miners!
