Families Divided If They Should be Sending Their Kids to School

Among recent polls taken by the New York Times, parents and teachers are greatly divided as to whether they should be sending their children and students back to school in areas where Covid-19 is still prevalent. But, like most topics in this country it has come down to politics and a majority of democrats not wanting to send their kids to school yet, while a majority of republicans do want their kids in school. Back in July during the peak of Covid-19 cases in the country, President Trump highly emphasized that he wants kids to be back in school all across the nation. This obviously came with a lot of heat and many of the President’s loyal supporters stuck by what he said. Statistically shown, about 29% of republican parents considered keeping their kids home as soon as schools opened up due to health and safety concerns. On the other side of the spectrum, about 45% of democrats said they would still keep their children home once schools opened up again. With that being said, teachers are also reluctant to be teaching in person again, but mostly republicans are pushing for them to be considered as essential workers just like grocery store employees or doctors and nurses. Many voices and opinions take part in this global issue and almost everyone wants to handle it differently for whatever their reasons may be. Just remember to stay 6 feet apart and wear a mask in public. It’s the least anyone can do.
