Minors Voting?

Currently in San Francisco citizens will be determining if it’s legal for minors (16 and 17) to vote, specifically for local elections.

“I really think that Vote 16 will help youth of color in San Francisco establish the habit of voting at an earlier age and really provide them with the support and the resources that they need to continue building on that habit as they grow older,” says Crystal Chan, an organizer who fought for Vote 16 to get on ballot.

I completely agree with Crystal, I feel like people our age should be taught more about politics because it seems like most of us don’t even know who to support or what we are supporting.

Though someone could make the argument that we are still young to make decisions as such, I think that’s why we should start off with local elections to see how things go and maybe we can determine if they’re able to vote for more important and bigger elections.

Especially in this day and age where it seems like more and more younger people are fighting for causes. I’m sure they’d be more than happy for their voices to be heard.
