Amy Coney Barrett, nominated by President Trump, was newly admitted to the Supreme Court on October 27 2020. Amy Coney Barrett was previously a United States circuit judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. The Supreme court ensures that Americans are treated with equal justice under law. She will be replacing the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat on the court. Amy Coney Barrett will serve on the supreme court for a life tenure unless she resigns or gets impeached. Democrats protested against admitting her just 8 days before the presidential election. They were aware their protest would not change the result since in the senate republicans hold 53 seats while democrats only hold 45. The makeup of the new Supreme Court will impact many generations to come.
