On Friday, October 30th, Disney+ aired the first episode of the second season of “The Mandalorian.” The exclusive show premiered its first season with the launch of the streaming platform on November 12th, 2019. With this show’s production having wrapped up before COVID-19 struck the world, Disney is able to provide Star Wars fans with brand new content for them to enjoy during this unprecedented time.

Disney+ releases their exclusive shows on a weekly basis. The next episode will be released Friday November 6th and will continue on this schedule throughout the rest of the year. The season will contain eight episodes or “chapters.” This episode is titled: “Chapter Nine: The Marshall,” and a majority of it takes place on the planet Tatooine, the most familiar planet to fans of the show. The plot involves The Mandalorian helping a small western town and a tribe of Tusken Raiders defeat a “Krayt Dragon” that has terrorized their land for years.

One character in the show became a pop culture icon nearly instantaneously with the internet exploding with memes of this character. This character, of course, is “Baby Yoda” who is a cute little green creature who resembles the older character Yoda in the franchise. It is worth noting that “Baby Yoda” is not his official name. The internet gave him this name upon putting two and two together, but the character has only been referred to so far as “The Child” or “The Kid.” Former Disney CEO Bob Iger has stated that he does know the official name of this character, yet it has not been revealed to audiences yet. It is safe to assume that in this season we will get to hear his official name.
