Do you ever just scroll through any platform of shows to find something to watch since you probably finished your last series and you want to find another series that’s not super long that can hold you up before you go to bed ? Well, the series that my siblings and I decided to watch is a series that we haven’t really heard of, Blood of Zeus.
They only have season one out so far, but the release date for season two is most likely late 2021. Just from a first look, you could tell from the title and cover that the show is about Greek mythology, which can lead to so many different ideas for stories they could recreate. What story do they recreate? None.
The main character in the show is named Heron. After researching whether he has a story, there’s no information of who he is in Greek mythology. The only kind of information that he may be tied to Zeus is that he has affairs with mortal women, as it angered Hera, Zeus’ wife.
Most likely, Heron is one of the few mortal children that Zeus is the father of. But continuing off of that, Heron’s mother at first didn’t know it was Zeus and thought it was her husband until Zeus revealed himself finally. Hera saw Zeus with the woman and knew she had to do something, so she sent out nightmares to Heron’s mother’s husband to show that he will have twins and one of them isn’t his. That made him afraid, so he knew he had to kill the child if he knew it wasn’t his.
So the story continues on as Heron lives with his mother and Zeus disguises himself as an old man to watch his son grow up. Heron goes on adventures, encounters friends, trains with his father, and stops the Titans one last time. Now, spoiler alert for the ending of Blood of Zeus, the series ends with Zeus sacrificing his life for Hera, along with Hera escaping to somewhere in the world, while Heron is a hero for capturing the Titans again.
This is very questionable as Zeus is very powerful and somehow died, not even from the Titans. It’s upsetting that Zeus dies, but it’s known that gods can’t die, so there’s a possibility that he’s not actually dead. Overall, this is a good series to watch with some questionable and funny scenes, but I don’t recommend if you hate any kind of gore or bloody scenes as there’s lots of those within the show. If you’re just fine with them though, I totally recommend watching this show if you like Greek mythology!
