A little girl from Roseville, Michigan named Dhakota, had to be rushed to the hospital after trying to replicate a magic trick she saw on TikTok. The app TikTok is a platform where creators are able to show off many of their talents. In this case, the user gregsabbak uses the platform to show off his magic skills. After Dhakota saw one of his videos where he swallows a die and then makes it reappear, she decided to try it herself.
However, Dhakota could not find dice in her house, so instead she tried to swallow a quarter. After struggling to breathe, her parents tried to find a hospital that would be able to see her the fastest. After going to two different hospitals, she was finally able to be seen by a doctor. “I didn’t know how bad the situation was until they brought the X-ray back and I saw the quarter right there in her esophagus,” Dhakota’s father said. The quarter was lodged in her throat sideways.
The young girl had to stay overnight to do some procedures. Luckily though, everything turned out to be fine, and Dhakota is now out of the hospital and in recovery. She does have to see the doctor a few more times, but they predict that she will now be on the right track.
