With winter break around the corner many students will find themselves sitting at home with nothing to do. Some may fill in the time by playing video games, and other hobbies. This winter, however, brings students the chance to read books of their liking, without the extra stress of writing a book review or class essay on it. Many people do not enjoy reading, but sometimes it is due to the fact that they are reading the wrong type of books. This winter if you find yourself facing boredom beyond imaginable, try one of these books:
Greek Mythology:
To all my Percy Jackson fans here is a list of books based on Greek mythology. Each one has focused on its own story, and creates an interesting take on its Greek myth. Even if you may not be familiar with Greek mythology, or do not know if you will find it interesting, you should still give these books a try.
- Circe by Madeline Miller
- This historical fiction novel follows the myth of Circe, a powerful sorceress who is despised by her family.
- The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
- A historical fiction novel revolving around the Trojan War and the story of Achilles and Patroclus.
Fantasy Fiction:
Some of my all time favorite books are fantasy, and each book on this list has a deep, interesting, throughout world. The authors of these books brig new worlds and compelling action to life.
- Six of Crows by Liegh Bardugo
- A fantasy novel following the story of six criminals commiting the perfect crime in a complex world.
- No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai
- A Fiction novel about a confused child who becomes a troubled man, a man disqualified as a human being.
