Today, January 20, 2021, former President Donald Trump broke tradition. He left the White House long before now-President Biden’s inauguration. The entire election was protested by President Trump throughout his Twitter page, speeches, and other social media (which he is now banned from) where he claimed the election was “rigged”. Some may say that he even protested the inauguration based on his previous comments and actions towards President Biden. It is a given that these two have tensions between them, but it is tradition to “pass the torch” to the presidential successor. It was definitely not a shock to anyone that President Trump wasn’t going to attend the ceremony, but what the correct path was in the situation is most definitely up for debate. Although the 45th President didn’t show, the 44th was in attendance. Former President Obama gave his old Vice President a wholesome fist bump when he took office, and it was a great sight for sore eyes. Happy Inauguration Day Miners!
