As these past couple months have continued and COVID cases continue being monitored, the Visalia Unified School District made a recent decision. They will bring 3rd and 4th graders back to campus for in-person learning just as kindergarteners through 2nd graders have been doing. According to ABC30.com, four to ten-year olds in Tulare County count for just a little over a third of all the COVID cases. Based on that information and the protocols that the district has put in place, district superintendent Tamara Ravalin says that the district office felt comfortable enough letting those two older elementary school grades back onto campuses.
In school, all the protocols, such as social distancing and constantly washing hands or putting on hand sanitizer, have been put in place and are being taken very seriously. As the return of the 3rd and 4th graders was talked about, there were also mentions of giving the hard-working staff of these schools the vaccine for the ongoing virus, so that way everyone can stay safe. 5th and 6th graders returning back to school is a conversation that the district plans to talk through very soon.
