On January 20th, 2020 President Joe Biden assumed office and former President Donald Trump skipped the ceremony.
This was the first time in one hundred and fifty years the outgoing President did not attend the inauguration. As Trump joins a small group of Presidents who have skipped the ceremony in the past he shows his lack of good sportsmanship and even courtesy. Many Presidents have had the courage and decency of welcoming another President into office but Trump can’t because he’s in denial about his election loss.
An inauguration with the former President present is a symbol of peaceful transfer of power. This was supposed to be a conflict free event and of course Trump has to make hate out of it. Including his suggestion that all of his supporters march down the capitol. He caused the capitol riot.
Finally I want to say that I am glad we have a new President that many people are happy with so hopefully he won’t mess it up. It’s a new start to our country.
