Candle Wax Wings [An excerpt from my book in progress]

Icarus, pure in mind and soul

Wished for nothing

But to touch the sky,

To reach his goal.

He wished to know 

The feeling of the sun’s glow

And as the saying goes;

Curiosity killed the cat

And fire melted the wax

As he fell, fell, fell…

Down to the sea

Simply for yearning 

To feel the burning

Of the brightest star

Of the morning.

Mourning,

His father watched him fall

Down, Down, Down…

With his creation:

“I warned him!”

His tears streamed in knowing.

The Candle Wax Wings

Were nothing-

Just feathers-

Now floating

In the foaming

Waters

below…
