Taylor Swift Re-releases Love Story

It may come as a surprise to many as to why Taylor Swift re-released her 2008 hit Love Story this Friday. After lawsuits and disputes with her record label leaving the masters of her music in the wrong hands, Taylor was left with two options: never play her own music live again or re-record all her old music. For many artists, that might seem like a great challenge considering all the time and effort it would take. Taylor took on that challenge head on though, releasing Love Story (Taylor’s Version) as the first single from her old, re-record album Fearless, coming out April 9th. It is expected that she will continue to release the rest of her re-recorded catalogue throughout this year. As for this new version of Love Story, the song is structurally and sonically the same as the original, but it features Taylor’s more mature, less country-like vocals.

Throughout this re-recording process, Taylor has put out not just one, but two, beloved albums: Folklore and Evermore. These sister albums take a departure from the pop sound Taylor fell into and explore a new genre of folk and easy-listening music. Between new records, and re-recording old records, Taylor Swift has been hard at work putting out music frequently. So, for now, we can all just enjoy this re-recording of Love Story and anticipate more music from Taylor this year!
