More Vaccination Rollouts Result In Declining COVID-19 Cases

After six weeks of sharp declines in new COVID-19 cases in the U.S., that number has started to plateau as hospitalizations and deaths continue to drop. On Wednesday, February 24, the average of new cases was just over 72,000, which was a lot less than the average of 102,000 new cases per day on Thursday, February 11, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Experts also believe that it is too soon to determine whether the flattening of the curve represents a minor deviation or a larger issue. If the U.S. is able to keep infection numbers down, the virus will be prevented from further mutating and will cause vaccines to remain effective. Covid-19 deaths and hospitalizations, which trail behind cases, have continued to sharply decline. And the two main vaccines approved in the U.S. have had lots of success in limiting severe COVID-19, which makes the race to vaccinate U.S. citizens very important.
