What Has Happened To The World’s Most Famous Attractions?

Before the global pandemic started, millions of people would travel around the world for vacation and for the holidays. Popular attraction hotspots would see thousands of visitors a day, and many cities use these attractions to fund public projects and boost the economy. However, people do not travel like they used to, causing these busy attractions to close or lose money.

The Telegraph pointed out these empty attractions with a new project they made where they compared photographs of popular world attractions during the pandemic to pictures of them before the world came to a standstill.

One of these images perfectly expresses the globe’s current situation through its drastic changes. The Mona Lisa is probably one of the most famous paintings, and it can be recognized just by its name alone. This painting used to get 30,000 visitors a day, and 9 million a year, as of 2020; however, the Mona Lisa only received 2 million visitors (which is still a lot, but not even close to the number it used to get).

Hopefully, with lowering numbers, more of these attractions will reopen. For now, we get to enjoy these beautiful attractions from afar.
