This past week has been pretty crazy in regards to the weather we have been having. We’ve seen major amounts of rain which is something we haven’t seen in a long time. Not only did we get rain, but we’ve also gotten a ton of snow in the mountains. Highway 168 is currently closed because of the enormous amount of snowfall Shaver Lake has experienced in the last couple of days, which means no one can get up to China Peak Ski Resort until the snow is cleared up on that highway. Shaver Lake’s businesses will take a bit of a hit from this because visitors are not able to get up there until possibly Sunday. On a good note, California really needed this rain. We haven’t gotten consistent rain like we’ve had this week in years and this was a huge plus for our local farmers and their crops. Hopefully these winter storms will keep coming with this rain we’ve been having because it can only help in the long run.
