Gov. Greg Abbott has made it official on March 2, 2021 to end the mask mandate in Texas, and he plans on opening up Texas 100%. His new executive order will take effect next Wednesday, which will remove business restrictions and the mask mandate. Businesses can still enforce a mask mandate and limit capacity if they choose to do so. Texas has been providing more than 1 million vaccines a week, which improves his argument for opening up. Health experts are worried that we are not ready to open up yet since some variants of the virus are resistant to the vaccine and there are more variants which are more contagious.
