In February there have been reports that ingredients in many baby foods are contaminated with heavy metals like arsenic, lead, and cadmium.
Baby foods contain arsenic, lead, cadmium, and mercury that are found in rice cereals, sweet potato puree, juices, and sweet snack puffs. Not only is this a clear risk to infants and toddlers but exposure to heavy metals has been linked to behavioral impairments, brain damage and even death.
Now lawsuits are being made and accepted from law firms from the parents who purchased food from any of the brands and have children with autism and ADHD. Both Autism and ADHD have been associated with toxic metals.
Exposure to toxic elements in the food supply is taken extremely seriously by the FDA particularly when it comes to protecting the health and safety of the youngest and most at risk people.
An FDA representative said that the agency had been working toward reducing toxins in foods and the FDA is continuing to work to ensure both domestic and imported foods meet the same standards for toxic elements.
