A six year old boy who plucked a tulip from a lawn at a bus stop in North Carolina recently went to court after being charged with injury to real property. Even though the child might not understand the situation, many argue that this will change the boy’s life for the worse.
“Should a child that believes in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and the tooth fairy be making life-altering decisions?” New Hanover County Chief District Court Judge Jay Corpening was quoted as saying.
The child’s lawyer, Atty. Julie Boyer, shared that she had to give the child a coloring book and some crayons while in juvenile court because his attention span was too short for the legal proceedings. The six year old went to court after his mother couldn’t make the intake meeting. The judge dismissed the case after realizing this.
