The Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine that was previously approved only for individuals 16 and over has now been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for people who are between the ages of 12 and 15. This leaves only 14% of the US population (ages 0-11) unaccounted for when it comes to approval for the Covid vaccine. According to Pfizer’s tests, children ages 12-15 had high antibody responses to the vaccine and had 100% efficiency against the virus.

At the moment, anyone aged 12 and over in California can get the vaccine if they want to. There are no longer any essential working requirements implemented by the governor. California’s vaccination rates are doing very well with 35.5% of the state’s population fully vaccinated. This has resulted in very low covid-19 numbers in the state. At the moment California is at 2,000 cases per 100,000 people. The numbers have not been this low since around this time last year. The low covid numbers have resulted in mass re-openings in the counties of the state. Every county as of now is out of the purple tier, most being in the orange tier. With more vaccinations on the way, things can only get better from here.
