Last Friday Night (August 20th), El Diamante’s JV and Varsity football team were set to go on head-to-head against Tulare Western High School. This was supposed to take place at Bob Mathias Stadium located on the side of Tulare Union High School. The huge stadium was a perfect place for these two rival school’s to battle it out while playing the classic game of football. Both teams were eagerly excited and more than ready to play each other. The El Diamante’s JV and Varsity football team have been training harder than ever. A lot of El Diamante Football fans were more than eager to see some of the newer faces of the varsity football team. Players like Tylan Stryd, Darren Childress, and Freddy Valencia are great new additions to the team, putting in the hardest work. Sadly, the game was canceled due to the horrible air quality that struck the San Joaquin Valley. The most likely reason for this terrible air quality was the results of the multiple California Wildfires that are still going on right now. Everyone across the San Joaquin Valley was advised to stay inside because the pollution and ash floating in the air was far too dangerous to inhale. Any sports that had meets, games, practices, or events held on Friday were canceled or postponed until the air quality got better. As of right now, El Diamante’s football team has high hopes that they will be able to play this coming Friday, and so do their fans.
