On Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, El Diamante’s girls’ volleyball teams went to Mission Oak High School in Tulare for their second preseason game of the season. Both frosh and JV teams easily won their games in two sets. For the varsity game, the intensity was high. El Diamante was coming off of a loss from Frontier from the previous week and this would be Mission Oak’s first game of the year. Due to a rough start for the Miners, Mission Oak took the first set of the game 25-21. El Diamante won the second set, 25-14, as they were hungry for triumph. Mission Oak won the third set, and El Diamante won the fourth set, 25-20, due to hard work, barely hanging in the game. For the fifth set, the adrenaline in the building was evident among both the players and the spectators. It was anyone’s game at this point. The fifth set was full of long rallies and points, and was won by El Diamante, 15-12, giving the Miners their third set of the game. The Miners won 3 out of 5 sets, ultimately leading them to victory.
