An Insight into SPED: Meet the New Teacher

El Diamante has welcomed many new teachers this year. Many of the new teachers have never gotten the experience of teaching before, especially due to Covid. One of these new teachers is Randi Boyce, who works hard to encourage all of her students to be their best self.

Ms. Boyce has never been a teacher, however she has been a substitute teacher. As a high school student she attended Redwood High School. For college she attended COS, then went to Fresno State, and she is currently attending Alliant international. One regret for Ms. Boyce regarding college was that she wished she had gone straight to Fresno State after high school. However, she does recommend anyone trying to get their GE done quickly at a low cost to attend COS.

Ms. Boyce is a family oriented person who has two Huskies at home, their names are Shade and Indie. In her free time she likes to play video games, watch movies, and enjoy nature. We asked Boyce how she would spend her money if she won the lottery, she replied stating that she would invest in property and stocks, she would also put money away for her kids to use when they attend school.

Ms. Boyce has a passion for helping all of her students. She has taught GE before, but she will always have a heart for her SPED students. The most rewarding part of Ms. Boyce’s job is seeing her students grow through the year, and being able to assist them when they need help. Ms. Boyce has a very strong bond with each and every student that she gets to work with, she loves working with a small number of kids, helping her to grow a relationship with each one. One thing that she greatly values about the SPED program is how it is individualised so that each kid can reach their full potential.

Ms. Boyce’s future plans for her class are to create fun activities for them and to help them find stress relieving activities.

El Diamante looks forward to having Ms. Boyce at our school. She will do a great job with her students and create strong relationships with them.
