Baby Fever

In January 2021, it was announced to my family that my sister was going to have a baby. At first, I didn’t know whether to believe it or not because that meant that I would be an aunt, and I would have a little niece or nephew running around. Me being an aunt? No way. It was impossible in my mind. However, my opinion started to change throughout the months of my sister’s pregnancy.

In April, specifically April 28th, we had a gender reveal party for my niece or nephew. My family had been discussing for the months that lead up to that day, and concluded that I would be an aunt with a little niece running around. At the party, it was revealed that my family was right, and that my sister’s baby was a girl. Later on, it was decided that her name would be Kymora.

Fast forward to September, specifically last weekend, my sister was sent to the hospital because of her high blood pressure. While in the hospital, the doctors realized that my sister was just about ready to give birth. After getting her prepped for two days, my sister finally had her baby on Sunday at 11:00pm, weighing in at 7.5lbs.

Due to COVID-19 and the shortage of hospital rooms, my sister was discharged on Tuesday, September 7th. My family didn’t get a chance to see my sister’s baby in person because there would be too many people around a newborn baby, and it wouldn’t be healthy for her. I’m going to visit my niece for the first time this weekend, and I’ve never been this excited about really anything in my life before. Holding my first niece has always been something that I wanted to do, and now I can do that in just 4 days.
