Far too often I hear politics brought up at school. When politics come up at school, students become divided. In my opinion, we should keep politics out of school. There are certain times when it is appropriate to talk about politics in a school setting, but most of the time it is just a problematic topic. Teachers should not share their political opinions with their students. Teachers sharing their political views can damage their relationships with their students, the atmosphere of their classroom, and their reputation. Politics don’t normally fit into a lesson plan.
Personally, I have witnessed first hand how consequential bringing up politics is in a classroom setting. Talking politics can hurt students’ relationships, and it normally is not beneficial for them. There are very rare times where politics can be discussed civilly in a classroom. Politics do more harm than good in the classroom. As a student, I ask that politics please be avoided at all costs at school.
