With everyone’s favorite spine-chilling holiday right around the corner, it is important to stock up on candy for the big night. You may be wondering what candy should I get? Well, no fear. According to recent industry research, the most popular candy in California is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. With over 12,092,999 pounds of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups purchased this last year that makes it the most bought candy for Halloween in California with Skittles and M&M’s following not far behind in second and third place. I mean it makes sense Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups have been very popular since their release in 1928 by the H.B Reese Candy Company. Originally called “Penny Cups” named conveniently for their price at the time; a penny. However, the name was changed in 1963, when the Hershey Company took over the H.B Reese Candy company that had been passed down to the original owner’s son. For those who have never enjoyed the delicious combination of peanut butter and chocolate if you end up going trick or treating this year don’t be surprised if you open up your pillowcase to find this little orange package of Heaven.
