Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist. She is commonly referred to as Malala. Malala was born and grew up in Swat Valley Pakistan. Her father was a teacher who advocated for education and ran an all girls school, however in 2008 the Taliban took control. They outlawed many activities such as listening to music, owning a television, and most important for Malala, girls were no longer allowed to get an education. Malala started speaking out about the Taliban´s new rule to keep girls out of school. In 2012 when she was 11 her school bus was cornered by men who attempted to silence her message. They killed one of the girls and shot Malala in the side of the head. She was luckily brought to the UK and had a fast recovery. Ever since then she has been standing up and advocating for girls to go to school. Malala is most known for surviving such a tragic accident, advocating for women’s rights, and for being the youngest person to ever recieve a nobel prize for her outstanding work. Malala´s number 1 goal is to advocate for girls to get a free and safe education. She does this by speaking out against politics, religion, and cultural traditions that have been put in place to specifically put down girls. She also supports her goal with her fundraiser whose proceeds go to girls in need.
