Tonight (Friday, October 22nd ) El Diamante faces off against Redwood High in one of the most important games in the WYL league. El Diamante has won one game in league while Redwood has won two. If El Diamante wins this game tonight; that ties El Diamante and Redwood for league. League points and wins are very important because they can determine which team for the West Yosemite League actually takes the league winning title. The team that wins WYL receives special WYL patches for their whole team. Lately El Diamante football has been striving on the field as they took a victory against Mt Whitney High School last week. The score was 42-21 ending with a Miner victory. The predictions for tonight’s game point towards a very neutral game on both sides of the ball. Both El Diamante and Redwood strive with their offensive techniques, so it will be all up to the defense to determine each team’s fate. The two teams have had some real tension between each other after El Diamante made a lip sync video where some students stuck a whole pickaxe on the turf of Redwood High School. Redwood responded with a rap video dissing El Diamante’s football team and students while also dancing on El Diamante’s campus. Since the release of these two videos, the tension between both schools have been very tight and unsteady. The end of all the tension and drama ends tonight with whoever steps off the field victorious. Everyone knows that the only way to end this super intense rivalry and tension is through the actions of the players on the field. Tonight at the Groppetti Community Stadium, kick off starts at 7:30. El Diamante students are advised to wear black tonight because it’s a blackout game. So grab $5, a black shirt, and get ready for one of the biggest games of the season.
