Disclaimer: I have only seen and played the demo of this game as it hasn’t fully been released, some thoughts and mechanics within the game itself could be found to be different in the final product.

This game is a huge surprise to me as I’ve never been a fan of the usual RPG (Role-Playing Game) formula that is constantly seen in the market today but this game’s unique visuals and aspect of storytelling even if simple is just so stylish and appealing to me. This game follows traditional RPG tropes like swords and sorcery kind of world but lets it all be shown through the medium of cards, everything in this game is represented by cards or playing mats for card games. This unique aspect of the game leads to lots of cool factors such as exploring the hub world by flipping cards that form a gigantic map filled with other cards representing surroundings, people, treasure and so on.

Combat is another interesting factor as this game simplifies it in a way that it does become this addictive card game, you are given three cards representing characters (of your choice) and 4 spells each to represent their chosen spells, and besides a couple items you find  to use for healing or stat increases that is the basic gameplay. The best aspect though has to be gems, physical attacks usually cost none but each act a player makes will gain them a single gem which are then usually the cost for major magic spells and spells also commonly use dice to determine final affects. As an example one mage character can perform a wind spell at the cost of a gem (you still gain one after the spell), then after the gem is spent you roll a dice to determine just how much damage is added or multiplied in the final result. These simple battle systems are just perfectly made for a smooth difficulty curve throughout the game as armor and weapons can still aid massively in final results of actions too.

I believe that this game is actually quite something to be excited for, I mean this seriously as someone who really doesn’t enjoy the genre that greatly. I can’t wait for the release on the 28th, it’s so soon but my excitement makes it seem like it’s months away. I hope that this encourages you to at least attempt and beat the demo to get a taste of the game and see if it’s something to be interested in yourself, even if not interested it’s still a fun short experience to enjoy and I hope anyone who reads this gets the same enjoyment as I did while playing this title.
