On April 2 2013 famous rapper and comedian released his long awaited album titled “Wolf ”. This is Tyler’s second studio album and consists of a lot of features. This album was long awaited since his project Goblin released. Wolf is the final album to his Wolf trilogy that consists of B@stard, Goblin, and Wolf itself. This trilogy follows another storyline like his most famous album IGOR. I will not explain the story but it consists of characters like Tyler, Dr. TC, and Wolf and that’s why the album is named Wolf.
This album has very good production and it is considered Tyler’s best album by a handful of fans. This album is some of Tyler’s best production besides IGOR. This album is mainly compared to IGOR because each album has a lot of good songs and good features. I feel like since this was the album that ended his trilogy (which is important for most artists) he felt like he had to make this album very good production and song wise and he did exactly that.
There are quite a variety of features on Wolf like Domo genesis, Earl Sweatshirt, Left Brain, Hodgy beats, and even Pharell Williams. Most of these features might not compare to the features on IGOR but they are special to Tyler because most of them are his friends like Domo and Earl but also he looks up to Pharell Williams and I find it cool that he got his idol to feature on his album.
There are a lot of stand out tracks from this album, some examples of those are Cowboy, Awkward, Answer, IFHY, 48, Domo23, Lone, and Tamale. There are a lot of great reviews on this album and honestly is growing on me. At first I found that this album was not good but just like IGOR it takes time for the album to grow on you but once it does you will absolutely love the album. This album does dive into deep topics about Tyler and the Wolf storyline. In the song Answer it talks about Tyler’s relationship problems with his father and how he left when Tyler was young. There are flaws of this album but not a lot of flaws.
In my opinion I honestly think Wolf is a 9/10, Tyler had put a lot into this album like the production and the beats being produced by Tyler himself and it’s known that Tyler produces his own music. This album is absolutely amazing but I still find IGOR better but every day Wolf grows on me more and more and Wolf is just beautiful. If you are a new Tyler the creator fan I recommend you listen to this album after you listen to Igor and Cll me if you get lost. It takes a while for Wolf to be a good album in some people’s mind but to me I find this album very very interesting and enjoyable, there are so many aspects that make this album amazing but there are some things that bring it down from a 10 to a 9 for me. Wolf is a very good album and really shows how great of an artist Tyler the Creator is.
