Do Transgenders Have an Unfair Advantage In Sports?

Just recently, the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, had signed a bill restricting Transgender students to compete in sports aligning with their gender identities. Critics claim that the act is discriminatory. Supporters say that it’s aimed to protect women from unfair disadvantage. The Bill is not set to take effect until January, preceding all grade levels from K-12 and University. It may be considerate and inconsiderate to say one or the other is right. For trans-athletes who aspire to be great as the ones before them, it is a privilege they cannot acquire. Though it does ensure that the competition for women is not dominated by the male hormones and matured physical strength of a transgender woman, it eliminates the issue rather than compromise it. The bill ignores the hearts and desires of these minorities. Rather than simply proposing the separation from Trans-athletes to those that haven’t changed genders in a separate competition exclusive for each, the Bill only made people angry. Critics argue that no examples were provided siding with the signing of the Legislature. Still, limitations are only made, and to clarify the issue: a man turned woman and continues to identify himself so, will only be able to compete with men. Take a minute to ask yourself if that is the best course of action or the worst.
