My Favorite Things in the World: My Dogs

My Miniature Schnauzers, Percy and Jack, are two of my favorite things in the whole world. Percy is salt and pepper colored, very chill, nine years old, and smart. Jack is probably half the size of Percy, super energetic, all white, three years old, and not very smart. Jack’s fur is a lot softer than Percy’s, and we think that he may be part poodle because most Schnauzers’ hair is usually wiry like Percy’s.

We got Percy for Christmas in 2012 and he has been a member of the family ever since. We love him to death. He loves to be petted and will put his paw on your arm if you stop giving him love. After a few years, Percy began to get bored when we were away at school and work, so he consistently got into our trash cans in the kitchen, dragging them all over the floor and the backyard, which upset my parents quite a bit. We decided to get another dog to keep Percy company during the day and possibly keep him out of trouble. That was when my dad and younger sister brought Jack (as a puppy) home to surprise the rest of us.

Jack has become obsessed with Percy. Jack barks whenever Percy barks, and most of the time, Jack doesn’t know what he’s barking at. He loves to play with his big brother, but Percy mainly gets annoyed with him. Percy is probably salty because Jack gets to sleep on my mom and dad’s bed, but Percy was not allowed to be on their bed. Jack does not like to cuddle with people or be petted, however, he stays on my bed next to me all day when I am sick.

The best part of my day is coming home to them greeting me at the door with their mini tails wagging so excitedly. It makes my heart warm to see them so happy to see me when I get home, especially after a bad day. I love how loyal dogs are to their owners and how they just want to protect us at all costs. What would we do without the love we get from dogs?
