El Diamante: Excitement Sparks As New Coaches Are Introduced To The Track Team

December is rolling in, and with a new month comes the exciting pre-season to the El Diamante Track & Field Program. Sadly, last year was coach Tracy Law’s last year coaching track here at El Diamante. He produced many successful athletes during his time of coaching but decided that last year would be his final season. This year many new coaches have been introduced to the coaching roster. The new side coaches and assistant coaches consist of Gregory Flenory, Mary Garcia, and DeJaun Jones. These are all very wonderful coaches that have the athletic knowledge and capability to take our team to the next level. The new head coach (Ronnie Holley) is an outstanding pick for the Head Coach position. Ronnie had previously been a track prodigy in high school and is an everyday personal trainer for those that want to get in shape. He knows almost everything there is to know about critical conditioning, weight training, and sprinting techniques. Although Mr. Holley’s specialty is sprinting, he understands that every event is equal and has the potential to put points on the board. He also understands that track is not just a team but a family as well. He implements the ideals of respect and responsibility into the track program to prepare this group of young athletes for their futures. Some of the returning coaches include BB Malone, Scott Nutter, Chris Ashford, and Pete Murrieta. BB Malone specializes in jumping events, Scott Nutter specializes in the throwing events, Chris Ashford specializes in the pole vault, and Pete Murrieta specializes in long distance. Overall, this year has brought us an amazing coaching staff that is determined to lead our track team to the victory they deserve. For all those people that don’t know, this is El Diamante. Learn it, love it, and live it, because it won’t be too long till you see us sweeping meets!
