YEAR OF THE SNITCH ALBUM REVIEW

On June 22, 2018, the partially famous band Death Grips released their (hopefully not) final album.  This project is titled “Year of the Snitch” and was actually pretty good so that’s why I will be writing about it. Death Grips is a experimental band that contains three members in which are Stefan Burnett, Zack Hill, and Andy Morin and they all play a key role in the band and its Music. Before releasing Year of the Snitch, Death Grips had released 7 projects and now Year of the Snitch was their eighth. Year of the snitch is unfortunately their last album as we know of (only because they haven’t released anything since 2018 besides a few singles.) We do not know when Death Grips will be returning but we do have their Music to cherish.

Death Grips is a three man band that formed in Sacramento and has been making music ever since. Year of the Snitch has a lot of qualities that we miss from Death Grips and a lot of good tracks too. Death Grips first started off their career when Zack Hill, their drummer, was close to being homeless. Death Grips created a big impact on their fans with their music and with the release of Year of the Snitch it left a lot of fans happy to even see the words “Death Grips is Online”.

Some things I like about this album are the beats and the whole retro sci-fi feel to the album. This album gives off a creepy aura and I love that, from the first track, some of the songs give off just a weird but amazing feel especially if you are a die hard Death Grips fan. There are 13 songs and most songs are pretty good some standout tracks from Year of the Snitch are “Deaths Grips IS Online, Hahaha, Streaky, Outro, and Disappointed”. These tracks are pretty good and I like them a lot and these tracks have that sci-fi feel to them which just based on the album alone it fits super well.

The only thing I do not like about this album is that there are many tracks I do not like. There is a majority I do like but also a majority of the ones I don’t like. This album has its highs and lows for me but I like the theme of the album and how it keeps that same theme but also switches it up every song and so on. This album definitely has a special place in my heart because it is Death Grips’ last project(at least for a long time).

Overall I would give this album an 8/10. There are good and bad tracks but the theme that it keeps having is very good to me. The Title of the album gives me that vibe of the whole retro sci-fi theme and I really think this is a perfect outro/conclusion for Death Grips and their music and even if we do not get any more music for a long time I am perfectly fine with that because of this album. Overall this album is pretty good and I do hope we get more Death Grips Music or even another project in the future.
