In the two movies (arguably the best ones) Tangled and Princess and the Frog, Disney reveals its deep-seated progressive feminism. In most movies, it had all been about the princess needing the man to save her and do everything for her. However, in these 2 movies, both princesses are independent and just find comfort and safety with the male lead. While this is still technically considered a “Prince saves the Princess ‘, it was a stepping stone for them to release the more progressive movies like Moana and Frozen later on.
