Finals are coming and let’s be real here, we all need to study. Whether it be science or English these tips and tricks are here to get you through it.

Repeat

One way to study is to repeat. First, read the entire sentence. After that read the sentence multiple times aloud (you can read it in chunks if that helps more). If you do this multiple times you are bound to get it.

Move around

Did you know that moving around would help? I didn’t. After studying or while studying you should get up and move around. There have been studies that show that humans are able to think and remember things better if they have frequent motion. You should be sure to get up and move around every 30 minutes to ensure better studying.

Study at a desk

Studying at a desk is one of the many ways to get your brain to work with you. There are multiple studies that show that working at a desk helps with memorization. The brain automatically functions depending on the atmosphere. When you’re in bed your brain automatically feels tired, but when you’re at your desk your brain automatically makes you active. Next time you want to study be sure to find the nearest desk

Study with friends

Studying with those around you is a great option for optimal studying. Even if you’re quizzing someone or teaching one of your friends you’re still soaking up the information. Studying with friends also gives you a confidence booster. Since you’ll be able to see your progress in real-time you’ll start to feel less stressed and more confident in your ability while also providing the same support to your friends.

Take a breather and relax

This is probably the single most important one. With finals coming up it’s understandable you would be stressed, but be sure to take a breather. If you study too much or for too long you’ll wear yourself out and eventually feel defeated. Feeling defeated will make you lose confidence which will do more harm for you. Be sure to take a break and step away from what you’re doing for a bit. Get an ice cream, hang out with some friends, take a nap. When you come back you will feel refreshed and ready to study. Just remember that overdoing your studying isn’t helpful and stressing yourself out isn’t necessary for success.
