It’s the beginning of December which means that Christmas is practically around the corner. In all honesty, November felt excruciatingly long, so today I have a few tips on how you can get festive and not only show but feel the holiday spirit. Tip #1 is decorating. If you’re someone who isn’t very good at decorating you can start simple like spicing up your decor with some throw blankets or decorative pillows and if you want to get festive you can set up your Christmas tree. Overall decorating just makes the atmosphere cozy and in a way kind of nostalgic which is exactly what we want. Tip #2 is Christmas shopping. Now as someone who hates spending money but also has a shopping problem, it always feels good to give gifts, the reaction that you get when someone opens your present on Christmas is so heartwarming and it just makes you feel like a better person. Tip #3 is giving back to the community. Especially with Covid, I know that there are tons of families who lost their jobs and maybe can’t afford to give this year. So one way you can get into the holiday spirit is by donating to charities or organizations as well as homeless shelters. It’s good to receive but it’s even better to give and so why not give to the less fortunate. You never know what it can do for someone, it may brighten their day or it could change their lives. Tip #4 is baking. The best part of the holiday season is trying out new recipes and making tasty treats. Not only is baking fun but it can also be therapeutic so don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty, who knows maybe you’ll find the perfect recipe or simply find a new hobby. Tip #5 is self-care. To get the best holiday experience possible you need to make sure that you feel your best. This means taking a break once in a while and spending less time on electronics and more time on yourself. So relax, have a snack and enjoy it. The holiday season is about giving and receiving but it is also about self-care and reflection.
