Everywhere around the world people are trying to find new ways to drive safer and more easily. For example, the new popular way drivers are driving is driverless. It’s when the car is able to sense the environment and surroundings for when to stop, turn, yield to pedestrians, drive fast or slow by itself, without the help of the driver. Each car company is now transferring to selfless driving. So people can kick back and relax as the car drives for them. Many believe that these self-driven cars are safe. Are they really? From research it’s proven that it is not as safe as others may think, it can cause multiple car accidents from malfunctions of the car not fully processing. One incident occurred in 2019 on December 29th involving the new Tesla driving on the mode called, “autopilot” was exiting a freeway and wasn’t able to stop at the red light. So the Tesla proceeded to go across the intersection and there was a Honda Civic that was driving straight. So the Honda Civic continued driving since they had the right of way but the Tesla, as well, continued and they smashed into each other. From that incident, the Tesla killed two people in the Honda Civic car. After two years the man in the Tesla was accused of manslaughter since he killed those people from being on autopilot. From this incident, many people who have self-driving cars should be more aware and not use selfless driving as much. Be careful and safe when it comes to self-driving cars.
