The Life of Robin Williams

Robin Williams is regarded as one of the best comedians of all time and is known for his works in the movies Mrs. Doubtfire, Dead Poets Society, and Good Will Hunting. Williams is recognized for his infectious personality in every character he has played and the wide variety of archetypes he can play so well. Robin Williams was a true man whose purpose was primarily to make his audience smile and to inspire them. On August 11th, 2014 Robin Williams took his own life by hanging, he had struggled with chronic depression and bipolar disorder for most of his life. When Robin had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Williams had to stop doing what he loved the most. He could no longer act or inspire which eventually led to his own death. A word I would use to describe Robin Williams is hope. Each character he has played (especially in Dead Poets Society and Good Will Hunting) has a hopeful aspect to them. In Good Will Hunting, for example, the main character played by Matt Damon is a troubled kid who is an undercover genius and Robin Williams plays a therapist to him. The character Robin played spoke to Matt Damon in a way no one else has ever before and at the end of the film, Matt Damon finds enough courage to pursue what he wants because of the help Robin gave him. Another widely popular film “Dead Poets Society” is about an uptight Catholic private school and a group of boys, each with their own issues. Robin Williams played a wonderful teacher that wanted the best for his students and changed their boring lives into a wonderful experience.
